School is finally out for the summer. Months ago I started thinking about how to juggle being a Mom for the summer with running a business where I work full-time. Is it possible that I can do both? Every summer since my 10-year-old was born I have tried to find some kind of home/work balance. A few summers my creative schedule has gone really well. One summer when I planned for a nanny to help with my son who was 6 and my daughter who was 1 the poor nanny got more than she bargained for. The kids were bored, the nanny ran out of fun things to do and it was brutally hot outside. Not a good combo.
This summer I am hoping to “get it right” and more than anything hoping this routine will be good for summers to come. I will be squeezing full-time hours into 3 days and staying home with the kids for 2 days. Hoping my home days will let us hit the trails at Reedy Creek and do some fun craft projects while the other 3 days I will work like mad in hopes of getting it all done in just 3 days. We are fortunate to have an amazing nanny lined up so my fingers are crossed the stars will align.
What do you do to keep your kids entertained for 3 whole months? My Mom friends have all kinds of unique combinations for summer fun that involve help from Grandma & Grandpa, camps galore, and even working from home with the kids. If you have found the winning combination I would love to hear how you balance it and what tips you have for other Moms.
