Our privacy policy.

Important information for your use of our website.

Last updated: May 13, 2026
Effective date: May 13, 2026

1. About this policy

O’Connor Insurance Associates, Inc. (“O’Connor Insurance,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the website oianc.com (the “Site”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect from visitors to the Site, how we use and protect that information, the choices you have, and how to contact us with questions. It applies only to information collected through the Site. Information collected by insurance carriers, our client portal providers, or other third parties is governed by their own privacy policies.

2. Who we are

O’Connor Insurance Associates, Inc. is a family-owned, independent insurance agency licensed in North Carolina and headquartered at 1973 J.N. Pease Place, Suite 203, Charlotte, NC 28262. We serve the greater Charlotte area and offer personal, business, life and disability, and Medicare insurance solutions. You can reach us at or 704-510-8884.

3. Personal information we collect

We collect two types of information when you visit the Site:

Device information

Information your browser sends automatically when you visit any website, including your IP address, browser type, operating system, time zone, the URL that referred you, the pages you view on our Site, and how you interact with those pages. We collect this through cookies, log files, web beacons, tags, and pixels (see Section 6).

Information you provide

When you submit a quote request, contact form, claim report, certificate request, or policy change request, we collect the information you choose to provide. This typically includes your name, email address, phone number, the type of insurance you’re interested in, and any details you share about your insurance needs.

What we do not collect

We do not process credit card or bank account payments on oianc.com. All bill payments are made directly through your insurance carrier’s own payment portal (Erie, Progressive, Travelers, Hartford, Hagerty, Liberty Mutual, and others linked from our Pay Bill page). Any payment information you provide is collected, processed, and stored by that carrier under their privacy policy, not ours.

4. How we use your personal information

We use your personal information to:

  • Respond to your quote requests, questions, and service requests
  • Provide insurance recommendations, quotes, and policy service
  • Communicate with you about your policy or our services
  • Improve our Site and understand how visitors use it
  • Send marketing communications you’ve opted into (you can unsubscribe at any time)
  • Comply with legal and regulatory obligations applicable to licensed insurance agencies in North Carolina

5. How we share your personal information

We share your personal information only as needed, and only with:

  • Insurance carriers we represent, when you request a quote or policy
  • Service providers who help us operate the Site and serve our clients — including our agency management and client portal system (Salesforce), our website platform (Agency Revolution), and our analytics provider (Google Analytics, via Google Tag Manager)
  • Government regulators or law enforcement when required by law, including in response to a valid subpoena or to comply with North Carolina Department of Insurance reporting requirements

We do not sell your personal information.

6. Cookies and tracking technologies

A cookie is a small text file stored on your device that helps a website remember information about your visit. Our Site uses these categories of cookies and similar technologies:

Strictly necessary

Required for the Site to function, including security and basic navigation. These cannot be disabled.

Analytics

Help us understand how visitors use the Site through Google Analytics, which is loaded via Google Tag Manager (container IDs GTM-W9ZHTWS and GTM-KVQK9TD). These collect aggregated, mostly anonymous information about page views, traffic sources, and visitor behavior. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing Google’s opt-out browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Advertising

Used to deliver advertisements that may be relevant to you on our Site or on other sites. You can opt out of targeted advertising by visiting:

Browser controls

You can refuse or delete cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may limit some features of the Site.

7. Do Not Track

Our Site does not currently respond to “Do Not Track” signals because no industry standard yet exists for how websites should respond to those signals. You can still opt out of analytics and advertising cookies using the methods in Section 6.

8. How we protect your information (Security)

We take reasonable steps to protect the personal information you share with us through the Site:

Encryption in transit

Our Site is served exclusively over HTTPS using TLS (Transport Layer Security) encryption. This protects information you submit through our quote, contact, and service request forms from being read by third parties while it travels between your device and our servers.

Access controls

Information submitted through the Site is stored within our agency management system, accessible only to licensed O’Connor Insurance staff who need it to serve you. Staff access is protected by individual user accounts, strong passwords, and account-level permissions.

Third-party provider security

The third parties that help us operate the Site — Agency Revolution (website platform), Salesforce (client portal and document management), and Google (analytics) — maintain their own information security programs and are contractually required to protect information they handle on our behalf.

Staff training

Our team is trained to recognize phishing attempts, handle personal information appropriately, and follow our procedures for verifying client identity before discussing or changing a policy (see Section 9).

No method is 100% secure

While we work to protect your personal information, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure. If you have reason to believe your account or information has been compromised, please contact us immediately at or 704-510-8884.

9. Fraud prevention and identity verification

To protect our clients from unauthorized account access and fraudulent policy changes, we verify the identity of anyone who contacts us to discuss or change a policy. Verification typically requires us to confirm two or more of the following: your full name and date of birth, the address on the policy, the last four digits of a Social Security number on file (where applicable), or your policy number.

We will not discuss confidential policy details or make policy changes for anyone who cannot complete this verification. If you suspect fraud involving your policy or our agency, please contact us immediately at or 704-510-8884.

10. Data retention

We retain personal information for as long as is necessary to provide the services you’ve requested, maintain a record of our business relationship, and comply with legal and regulatory recordkeeping requirements applicable to licensed insurance agencies. Those requirements typically require us to retain client records for at least five years after a policy ends, and longer in some cases. When information is no longer needed for those purposes, we delete or de-identify it.

11. Your choices and rights

You may:

  • Ask us what personal information we have about you
  • Ask us to correct or update inaccurate information
  • Ask us to delete information we hold about you, subject to our legal recordkeeping obligations
  • Unsubscribe from marketing emails (use the link in any marketing email we send you)
  • Opt out of analytics and advertising cookies using the methods in Section 6

If you live in California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, or another state with a comprehensive consumer privacy law, you may have additional rights under that state’s law. To exercise any of these rights, email and tell us which right you want to exercise. We will respond within the time period required by applicable law.

12. Children’s privacy

Our Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

13. International visitors

Our Site is operated from the United States and is intended for visitors in the United States, primarily North Carolina. If you visit the Site from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, which may have different data protection laws than your country.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, services, or legal requirements. When we make changes, we’ll update the “Last updated” date at the top of the page. Significant changes will be announced more prominently.
