ISU O’Connor Insurance Associates is celebrating 15 years in business. Founder Terry O’Connor, fondly remembers the day he “opened shop” out of his spare bedroom.
“I had just received the great news that I received approval from Erie Insurance to represent them,” he said. “It was time to get to work.”
ISU O’Connor Insurance was started from scratch — meaning there wasn’t a customer base. Back in January of 2000, Terry relied heavily on the business plan he and his co-founder and wife, Michelle, had carefully crafted in the months before opening the business.
“Thankfully, consumers didn’t mind a call at night asking if they wanted to compare insurance products back then,” said Terry O’Connor. “I laid the foundation of the agency making cold-calls.”
ISU O’Connor Insurance is a boutique insurance agency. The agency location is not in a busy shopping mall because we are looking for a different kind of client. We are looking for the type of client that values a relationship with an agent. Our desire is to educate clients so they can make informed insurance buying decisions.
