There is a lot of advertising hype surrounding shopping on Black Friday. Ads have been “leaked” ahead of what has become a shopping holiday. But, have you heard of Small Business Saturday? We want to create a shopping buzz around the many amazing small businesses. This year Small Business Saturday is on November 26th.
Here is a little background information in case you are curious. The SBA defines a small business as one that has fewer than 500 employees. Small Businesses are the backbone of the United States. According to the US Census Bureau in 2012 businesses with fewer than 500 workers accounted for 99.7% of the 5.73 million employers in the United States. Even more shocking is that businesses with less than 20 workers made up 89.6% of that total.
So, what IS Small Business Saturday? It was started in 2010 by American Express to remind people to patronize small businesses. In 2011 the US Senate passed a resolution in support of Small Business Saturday. O’Connor Insurance Associates is a small business and we have hundreds of small business clients. We are passionate supporters of Small Businesses everywhere.
As #SmallBizSat approaches on Saturday, November 26th we would like to remind Charlotte of the many amazing small businesses. We are inviting you to help us all #ShopSmall by recognizing a small business you love. We are accepting nominations right now. Here are all the ways you can share with us about a small business you love:

- You can go to our Facebook page and comment on our page with the name of the business, where it is located and most importantly why you love it.
- You can go to our website and submit this form – in the message box include the name of the business, where it is located and most importantly why you love it.
If you have a picture we can share on social media of the business please email it directly to michelle@oianc.com. We are super excited to hear about the businesses you love. As we get the nominations we will be sharing the love on social media with special shout outs to each business to help support, advertise for them and most importantly create a buzz so you everyone will #ShopSmall!
