Read This Before You Drive Your Car With a Passenger In It

This past Saturday I grabbed the mail and started to quickly shuffle through. I almost passed on opening a letter from my car manufacturer thinking it was a solicitation for the next tune up.ย  When I opened the letter I was surprised to learn my car was part of the massive airbag recall that is affecting what is being described as tens of millions of defective airbags.ย  Ugh!ย  The letter actually says that my manufacturer does not have a remedy for the problem right now and that I should not have a passenger in the car with me since it only affects the passenger side airbag.ย  What?ย  No solution?ย  No passengers?

I am in the process of working through that with the dealership right now but in the meantime the website lists several manufacturers that have been impacted.

The airbag issue is a very serious and scary safety concern. The airbag may have disintegrated and in even a minor fender bender would be very dangerous. ย In some cases it is affecting the driver side airbag and in other cases only the passenger side airbag. ย Check your cars right away.ย  If you have your vehicle ID card or your insurance declaration page handy grab the VIN (vehicle identification number) and enter it into the website below.

It is terrible when equipment designed to protect and keep people safe may cause serious injury. Hope your cars are not affected!
