Replace Your Batteries!

By October 25, 2017September 13th, 2019No Comments

You have heard this a million times but do you really do it? Fire safety experts recommend replacing the batteries in all your detectors (smoke and carbon) twice a year. Every month the detectors should be tested to verify they are in working order. Yes, I know that beeping is incredibly annoying. Wear some ear plugs and go to it! The really great part about replacing your batteries 2X per year is that it is very unlikely you will hear that annoying chirping in the middle of the night indicating one of your detectors has failing batteries.

BONUS TIP – one of my favorite clients emailed me recently to share a tip. Steve in Charlotte, NC said his HVAC company offered to replace his detector batteries when they come in the fall and spring for HVAC maintenance. They noted his file and when they came to get his furnace ready to be used this month they replaced the batteries. Steve was so relieved to have this service, so he didn’t have to drag a ladder through the house. Make sure you check with your HVAC company to see if they have this service. Thanks so much for sharing, Steve!
