Think you have heard it all when it comes to how to protect your house from burglars? This exclusive news piece from a station in Oregon, KGW8, is nothing short of fascinating. The KGW8 news station sent questionnaires to 86 inmates serving time for burglary in the Oregon Department of Corrections.
There is a short clip with a former burglar who has turned his life around and went on a ride along to explain what he looked for when picking a house to burglarize. The survey and several responses are posted.
Think having a dog is a good determent? Not all the burglars agreed. The guy in the video clip said he would sometimes feed the dog from the fridge so the dog would stop barking.
What do you think the biggest deterrents are? You probably would guess some of them but at least one on the list caught me by surprise!
One thing I concluded for sure is it might just be time to invest in a ring door system so I can “answer” the doorbell even when I am not home. What do you think?
